About River Cottage
Holingsberg River Cottage is an exclusive self-catering fly fishing retreat, ideal for serious anglers. The private, upmarket cottage is located on a working farm where children are welcome to interact with the farm animals.
Guests enjoy 1.5 km of private river frontage and access to a fishing pond approximately 1 km away. Relax on the patio with stunning views, enjoy a fire, and share stories from the day’s fishing or horse trail. The cottage also has solar backup power.
The Space
The cottage offers beautiful views and a peaceful setting. It is accessible only by SUVs or vehicles with high ground clearance (low-profile sedans are not recommended). Located 16 km from Dullstroom, including 8 km of gravel road.
Guest Access
Guests are welcome to fish, hike, and cycle throughout the farm.
Experienced riders can book a horse trail into the mountains (2–6 hours, maximum 2 riders). Rides are not available on Sundays, must be booked at least 4 days in advance, cost R1,500 per rider, and require your own riding gear and helmet. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent.

Other Things to Note
The cottage shares the main farmyard and is not separately fenced. Friendly farm dogs roam the property and may interact with you and your dogs.

The house is within a working farmyard and the daily farm activities happen around you. There is a beautiful trail of about 10km to walk. There are no other guests and you feel totally secluded and at peace, away from the realities of everyday life. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. The house had everything we needed, and a particularly well appointed kitchen. We especially appreciated being able to take our two dogs, who ran and explored, and enjoyed the weekend as much as we did!
A really lovely cottage on a working farm, set in beautiful and peaceful surroundings. The cottage is exceptionally well equipped, with everything you could need for a comfortable stay, including an air fryer.
Dewald and Heleen were extremely friendly and helpful. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed, as well as a bunk bed in the open-plan living area suitable for two smaller children…..
